Dulcimers

 

The forerunner of the piano, the Dulcimer is usually played with a pair of small hammers (left of photograph).

However, a less common technique is to stroke or pluck the strings with the finger nails (right).

The Mountain Dulcimer is related to the French Epinette des Vosges and the Norwegian Langleik.
The three, six or eight strings are stopped along the fret board and played with a plectrum or a goose quill.

Chord Zither

The chord zither has several sets of strings, tuned to six different chords, and may also have two octaves of melody strings.
The instrument shown here is in excellent condition, with lovely tone. 185 Euros.
