St Avit Senieur

St Avit Senieur is situated in the Dordogne, SW France, on the Chemin St Jacques / Way of St James - the medieval pilgrim way from Vezélay to Santiago de Compostella in northern Spain. The hostelry beside the Abbey is still known as the Auberge St Jacques. The reliquary of St Avit "le saint ermite" is at the origin of the foundation of the monastery.
