Conques
Picture Gallery optimised for Internet Explorer & Netscape 5 and above. Conques in the Aveyron, southern France, is one of the principal abbeys on the Chemin St Jacques / Way of St James pilgrim route to the shrine of St James at Santiago de Compostella in northern Spain.
The tympanum above the entrance of the Abbey of Sainte-Foy de Conques writhes with fantastical carved figures and demons, while the gilded reliquary of Ste Foy is a priceless treasure.
At Quézac, approx 25 km ENE (as the crow flies) is the shrine of the madonna, a pilgrimage site of many miracles.
