Montvalent

La Fontaine St Georges is a resurgence which flows from the base of the cliff face near Montvalent in the Lot, SW France.
Beside the ancient pilgrim way which passes through the village the madonna of the Oratoire de Notre Dame de la Route offers succour to pilgrims, including those making the pilgrimage to the shrine of Saint James at Santiago de Compostella in northern Spain along Chemin St Jacques / Way of St James. The well and lavoir nestle at the base of the escarpment.
